please thank you
Milagros, tiny Mexican tokens used to petition saints for special favours, are magically intriguing. It is moving to think that objects so small and simple can hold all the faith and desperate hope they represent. They are all-purpose prayers for whatever we most need.
please thank you is an installation of 80 milagros, half modeled after Mexican milagros, with the rest based on images from an earlier work, Brothers and Sisters, and more recent familial symbols. Each milagro has been kiln cast in glass and suspended by ribbon and beads. Shimmering with a subtle iridescence, they are ethereal, treasure-like, imbued with qualities that make it seem possible that simple prayers can help lead the way to understanding and healing.
